Cool video. I got tired of the BS at the pick and pulls with their extra charge warranties, core charges and unknown mileage parts. Now I deal with LKQ which is nationwide and can give me the exact mileage and interchange, plus everything comes with a 6 month warranty standard. And in many cases a used factory part is better than an aftermarket part. Just always buy the lowest mileage part you can find!
@scottykilmer Thanks, I guess it also depends on how common cars are. Friend of mine has a Ford Probe that needed a new started motor, forked out $700 for a new one because Probes aren’t that common in Australia.
@uzaiyaro New parts cost a
TON more than used ones. If you’re looking at a REAL expensive part, why not try a junk yard? But if it doesn’t cost much, go ahead and get a new part. Scotty Kilmer
Is it recommended getting wreckers parts on cars less than 10 years old? Or better off getting from manufacturer?
ur kick ass scotty
Would like to echo mr. cool. Your videos are great! The first one I saw was about wheel bearings and since then I’ve been hooked. Great format, intelligent and informative.
Thanks for making the videos and keep up your enthusiasm =- )
@bozdave that’s cool. Post that website so I and others can see it. Scotty Kilmer
Cool Video I like this one. We have a salvage yard near us where you can check the inventory of what cars they have online to see if they have your car before you go down there. I am sure other salvage yards have this feature as well as it is very helpful to me liked your video.

@Matthew55904 Of course you can do anything you feel up to doing, just depends on how much work you want to do. A discount muffler shop and cut and weld a muffler on correctly in five minutes. SO, it just depends on how much work you want to do versus how much you want to pay. Scotty Kilmer
@mazdarx7head Yes, the end state of American capitalism can indeed be found in a Junk Yard. They can be rather philosophical places. Scotty Kilmer
@scottykilmer so say i get a muffler and its a bolt on and say my car is a weld on can i still use a bolt on by drilling mountting holes? u can get a Y Pipe to convert one exhause pipe into two how would this effect preformance when it comes to welding the exhaust pipe from the engine to the muffler is there clamps i can use instead?
nice vid. ive bought everything from wheels and tires to distributor and door glass from boneyards. many hidden treasures await
Scotty you are a great man! =) more video please!
@Matthew55904 Those mufflers flow better, but often you don’t want flow change because that can adversely effect air fuel ratios the computer creates using oxygen sensors in any car that’s not forty years old. I believe in OEM mufflers myself. Some you bolt on, some you weld. I don’t do much muffler work anymore, so odds are I won’t be making a video on it anytime soon. Scotty Kilmer
@jptrucker29 Try the salvage yard hot line at any decent yard and they can look for one. Plus some have a watts line that goes for all of North America. Scotty Kilmer
scotty i think i need my muffler changed i have a few questions 1 does the brand matter for example is Magnaflow or Flowmaster mufflers better than other brands? 2 how do u install one can you give a video on how to change one? do i need to weld anything to replace it?
@scottykilmer nah not a shame i love to blow them up and they are free lol
any 8ft dodge pickup beds no rust for a 83 up i`v got an 87,
@devildriver66621 What a shame, all those old air bags going to waste. They’re big sellers here in Texas. Scotty Kilmer
@ponchoyo OH Yea, you can here in Texas. I just got parts for a 79 corolla and they were perfect. And it was in a pick a part yard. Scotty Kilmer
